What to do if you expect your baby has tethered oral tissues

The first step is to get bodywork for your baby. Craniosacral therapy (CST) is the best treatment we have available in Western NY, and is different than chiropractic (while every CST around here is also a chiro, not all chiros are CSTs). Dr Michelle Pietrantone (with whom we share an office) is a fabulous one, but unfortunately she's not taking new patients at this time. Dr Alaina Ferry at Infinite Health Chiropractic, Dr Alaina Roswell at Riverview Chiropractic, and Dr Jessica Przbylak from Family Chiropractic are the only providers in the region for CST as far as I'm aware, but I'm always happy to chat with providers who may offer this service, so please reach out to us if you'd like to discuss working together!

Dairy allergies are being diagnosed at a terrifying rate in our area, and without testing. Blood in the stool is pretty common (close to 70% of babies experience this at some point) and is not a sign of allergy. It is a sign of intestinal inflammation. The best treatment is to address the inflammation and fix the problem, rather than to just avoid foods you normally eat, stop breastfeeding, or change formulas. WNY Orofacial & Breastfeeding Support Center can help get to the root of the problem so that you can get on with your life.

For functional development of the mouth, lips, and cheeks, you want to have a specialist helping you and your baby. WNY Orofacial is the only specialty provider on this side of Syracuse for tongue, lip, and cheek ties and other orofacial dysfunction.

Below is a collection of the best advice the parents in our online support groups ever received. For your inspiration!
  • "You'll know best for your baby" my lo is only 3mo and I've learned that i do know what's best for her and myself.
  • "Sleep when the baby sleeps, housework can wait"
  • Enjoy every moment because it goes by in the blink of an eye.
  • Follow your instincts, not what everyone tells you.
  • Trust your instincts.
  • He will do everything in his own time... don't rush him.
  • You do what you think is right being a mother comes naturally.
  •  Something I truly appreciated was the support and encouragement from my parents and hubby to do extended breastfeeding.
  • Follow your heart!
  • You do better when you know better , and trust yourself and baby !
  • Doctors are for medical advice, not patenting advice.
  • "The key thing is when things are this bleak is to focus on the moments of uncomplicated joy". It's from John Oliver, but i really took it to heart when i read it and try to remind myself when parenting gets tough.
  • When i stress about the bigger issues, i always try to find the uncomplicated joy in the little things, like watching my daughter try to form words, the way she smells after a bath, or how sweet she is when she asks to be picked up.
  • Children want time, and you never get it back. Something my dad tells me all the time.
  • Happy mom, happy child... I try to remind myself often but it's hard to do.
  • Be humble, and never say never.
  • Aside from the goodies above, pray for wisdom!
  • Cherish every moment.
  • They'll only be babies once.

  •  No bulky coats in the carseat That's a gem!

  • You can't spoil a newborn.
  • Don't stack diapers, wipes, lotion, fresh clothes etc. near the foot of the changing table, especially if you have a boy. Put them as high up and out of the path of "harms way" as possible.
  • Also, this one was more recent; take pictures, and videos. Lots of videos to remember special moments years later.
  •  Listen to all the advice u get then do your own thing
  • "This too shall pass"
  • Follow his (my son's) lead.
  • Babies can't manipulate.
  • Trust yourself.
  • Making the decision to have a child - it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.- Elizabeth Stone

  • Rock N Play
  • The days are long, but the years are short.
  • They really aren't out to get you...REALLY! I'm not sure of a serious one that I'd say is the best advice. I guess remember that your baby is an individual so you can't really compare.
