Professional Doula Support
Immediately after the birth or adoption of your baby, you'll often have the support of your birth doula, nurse or midwife to let you know what the normal processes are and to help you with feeding your baby.... But then you have to go home! Often, parents are left feeling as though the rug has been pulled out from under them as they transition from having all the help in the world to suddenly caring for this little bundle.
Once you’re home, it’s up to you to care for your newborn. If you’re like most new parents you’re probably filled with questions you never knew you'd have (Is the baby sleeping enough? Eating enough? How can I bond with this little person who just stares at me? How am I supposed to get anything done with this baby wanting to be held all the time?). The truth is, most new parents are unsure of what to do with their newborn or how to really adjust to their new role as parents! |
I will work with you to customize your postpartum support in whatever way feels right for you. Postpartum doulas can play a variety of different roles depending on your individual needs. I can provide education or hands-on support with a variety of newborn tasks including bathing, swaddling, calming and feeding. I can also help you with light housework so that you can focus on your new family. Perhaps most importantly, I will ensure that you are taking proper care of yourself. As a new mom it is easy to focus all of your energy on your baby, and to put your needs last. I will come to your home and care for your baby so that you have time to shower, nap, or run errands. Of course, many families will hire Mary for postpartum support in light of her expertise with special breastfeeding challenges.
A variety of packages are available to meet your family’s needs and I'm happy to work with you to customize your level of support. Please contact me to discuss the level of support you are thinking you'd like, and we'll work together to ensure your postpartum is truly the baby moon you desire!

"There truly and sincerely aren't enough words to describe how valuable Mary's help and knowledge has been to me. To say her help is immeasurable is an understatement as I have learned so much from her. She is my go-to person for practically everything baby related....and she has always been able to calm my fears and teach me different options. There has never been something she can't help with or point me in the right direction of....and I have given her lots! I am glad she has become a part of my life and am honored to call her a friend."

"You're an angel on earth Mary!!!! Saved my nursing relationship and helped me so much!!!

"I never knew how tough breastfeeding could be and was in for a rude awakening in the first days and weeks of my daughter's and my breastfeeding relationship. I reached out for help and Mary was willing to drive the 20 miles to visit me at my home, show me different breastfeeding techniques and postures, gave me a referral for someone who would rectify my daughter's tongue tie when even her doctor didn't know, and just overall give me a pep talk and confidence boost! Since then I've been able to count on Mary numerous times at all hours of the night to give me sage advice and positive comments. Now I find myself helping mamas in need with my experience too! I survived those first weeks of nursing-and all that comes with it-and we went on to nurse for 20 months, with my daughter self-weaning. It's been a great journey, thanks to Mary Miller!"
